Before you start...

before-you-start2Nobody is more excited about getting their new website up and running than you are. However, there are a few things you can do, first, to ensure that we can get your site together and finalized in a timely fashion. Your project should take days (not weeks or months) to complete — and the more organized you are at the start, the quicker we can get your website up and running for the whole world to see.

What type of site do you need?

The most obvious place to start is to decide what type of website best suits your needs — both current and future. Are you simply looking for an affordable web presence that you don't have to worry about making changes to; or do you require a site that offers more features for your visitors?

Begin by deciding what your budget will allow and start making of list of the features you would like to have included on your website. This will help determine which package would be best suited to your needs.

What kind of layout do you have in mind?

Chances are, you already have an idea of what you would like your site to look like. This would include the overall layout of the site pages, color palette you want to use, and other features that you would like to include. If you don't, may we suggest you take some time to surf the internet for some inspiration? This will help give you some ideas on how you would like to have your site set up; some ideas on additional features; color usage; and font usage. Save the URLs (web addresses) of these sites so you can share them with us. The better we know what you have in mind, the easier it will be for us to design your website.

What type of content should you include?

If you're not sure what type of information you want to include on your website, surf the internet for some inspiration by visiting websites that are similar to the one you want to build. It's also a good idea to save the URLs of these websites for future reference. Start listing the types of informatoin you want to include on your site so you can better organize your thoughts.

Organizing your content.

Writing copy is never an easy job — but nobody knows the message you are trying to convey better than you. Once you have an idea of what types of content you want to include on your website, now it's time to sit down and get your thoughts on paper. We can offer you two helpful tips to accomplish this task:

  1. Keep the message simple — try to find ways to get the main points of your message out without becoming too wordy.
  2. Set it aside and return to it a day or two later to proofread. You may be surprised how many items you will change or how many spelling and grammatical errors you will find.

Save your content as a computer text file (such as a .doc, .txt., .rtf, or .pdf) as you will be asked to upload your content when you are placing your order.

Gather your photos and graphics.

If you have images, including logos, that you would like to have included on your site, gather them together so you can find them more easily when ordering. If you have them embedded into a text document (such as Word), please include the original images separately. The internet is very particular as to the type of graphics browsers will view; so please save your images as either .jpg or .png files. Larger-sized files are preferable as we can always reduce and optimize them for you.

If you don't have a logo, keep in mind that we can also develop your logo for you and offer you print-grade graphics that you can use on business cards, letterheads, and other printable items.

To summarize...
